Val d'Isère lifts open. We've already had lots of snow in resort so its looking like a great start to the season.

3rd September 2012

Please support friends of Bonne Sante in the piste 2 plage challege next week.

The Piste 2 Plage Challenge is a four day bike ride over the French Alps, starting in the picturesque ski resort of Sainte Foy Tarentaise, high in the Haute Savoie region and finally ending up on the sandy beaches of the Cap d'Antibes on the Cote d'Azur.

Louise from Bonne Sante will be going along to support the riders and treat any aches, pain and injuries that may occur.

Over the four days the 160 strong team will cycle over 440kms and gain over 27,500 vertical feet. They will climb and descend seven of the infamous mountain cols often seen on the Tour de France, including Col de l'Iseran, Col du Galibier and the intimidating Cime de la Bonnette, the highest road in Europe!

Why? The reason is simple. To raise as much money as possible for Help for Heroes. A charity dedicated to helping wounded soldiers, who have been injured whilst serving their country. Please visit the fundraising page, which can be found at: Bmycharity

Olympic Torch with Dr Simon Petrides 14th August 2012

Louise has just finished working at the London 2012 Olympics. She is pictured here with Dr Simon Petrides, Sports Medicine physician (www.blackberryclinic.co.uk). She states that it was the most incredible experience and a real privilege to work with the worlds most elite athletes. As well as providing physiotherapy treatment from the Polyclinic in the Athletes Village, she also attended team training sessions where her role was as a pitch side medic. Athletes were treated for injuries pre and post competition. They presented with a wide range of different problems, although hamstring strains were very common. They had access to a hydrotherapy pool, ice baths and anti-gravity treadmills to facilitate recovery. Louise says it was a wonderful opportunity and is now looking forward to the Paralympics.

Support friends of Bonne Sante in their 24 hour ski challenge on 20th - 21st April.

Paul Garner, Giles Lewis and Ben Langridge from TDC along with 3 other friends are taking on a 24 hour ski challenge in memory of their friend Ponti Chatteron and to raise money for Acorns Hospice and Noah’s Ark. Acorns is a magnificent organisation and offers help to life-limited children and support for their families. Noah’s Ark helps families deal with the fall out once a parent or sibling has died.

During the challenge, the lifts will be open for 8 hours which leaves 16 hours where they will be climbing the mountain on foot! They will definitely deserve a massage afterwards.

Come along and support the boys in their gruelling challenge which will be held on top of the Bellevarde area between the Folie Douce and the top of the Olympic bubble. You can donate on the day or log on to virginmoneygiving.com/pontismountaintriathlon

Many of you will have heard about the tragic events that have recently occurred in Val d'Isere. Our thoughts are with the friends and families of those involved. If you ski / board off piste and you would like to learn more about how to minimize the risks get yourselves along to Henry's Avalanche Talk. Each week in Val d'Isere the HAT team give a 'Ride Hard, Ride Safe' presentation in Dicks Tea Bar. This takes place on a tuesday at 17:00.

What will you get out of the talk?

Unfortunately there is no straight yes or no answer. In our avalanche talks you will learn that whether it is safe depends on:

The HAT team also offer beeper training sessions. If you carry an avalanche transceiver it is essential that you know how to use it and practice regularly. The beeper training sessions take place on a wednesday at 14:00. See www.henrysavalanchetalk.com for further details and prices.

At Bonne Sante, we can't recommend Henry's services enough.
